We’ve come up with a few things to consider before you make any e-liquid purchase: Nicotine Levels – Generally, those who are transitioning from traditional smoking to vaping prefer e-liquids with high nicotine concentrations. If you’re used to smoking full-flavor cigarettes, you might prefer an e-liquid with 18-24 mg of nicotine. Lighter smokers will more likely enjoy levels around 12-18 mg. However, not all e-liquids contain nicotine. Whether you’re searching for e-juice with no nicotine, a little nicotine, or a lot of nicotine, you can always find an e-liquid to suit your needs.
Remember, as with all commodities – you get what you pay for. If you choose the cheapest e-liquid you can find, you probably aren’t purchasing a liquid made with quality ingredients. While you don’t automatically need to jump to the most expensive e-liquid, make sure to take your time and do some research when selecting a new juice. Most reputable liquid producers and suppliers will list liquid ingredients and explain how their e-juice is made.
Flavor – After nicotine levels, flavor is a huge factor for e-smokers to consider. Are you looking for a sweet smoking experience? Or do you prefer a real tobacco taste? The wide range of flavors available for vaping is a huge benefit of switching to e-cigarettes. From tobacco and menthol flavors to chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cotton candy and many more, you’re sure to find at least one flavor you enjoy.
Additionally, with e-liquids, you can feel free to experiment and mix your own flavors! Love coffee and orange? Mix ‘em up and see what happens! E-liquid flavor possibilities really are just about endless.
PG vs. VG – When browsing e-liquids, you’ll notice PG (Propylene Glycol) and VG (Vegetable Glycerin) are the two primary base ingredients in most e-liquids. Both of these have been shown to be safe and are FDA approved, however there are differences you should be aware of:
- PG is thin, sweet and known for producing flavorful hits. As an organic glycerol, PG is used in many medical, cosmetic and food products. PG has a longer storage time than VG but a lower temperature resistance.
- VG is thicker than PG and creates more vapor per hit. Made from vegetable oil, VG is more likely to build up on your wicks and vaping components, so it’s more often recommended for use with SubOhm and rebuildable atomizers. VG can also be found in many medical and personal care products.
